On December 20th, the Nanjing Metro mobile payment renovation project, which was built by Panda Information, started to trial operation. This means that there are more ways to pay for the metro in Nanjing, such as Alipay, Unionpay Card with Quick Pass, and mobile phone PAY.

The mobile payment renovation project includes two parts: hardware renovation and payment platform construction. The hardware renovation task has been completed on November 22. The construction of payment platform is the most difficult and core part of the project, which was completely developed by Panda. And it is the first one in China to realize the joint coding mode between Metro Corporation and Third Party payment company. The technology level of the platform has reached the leading level in China, which marks that Panda Information has entered into the Internet field.

Because of the huge passenger flow of Nanjing Metro, in order to ensure the smooth operation of the system when large passenger flow occurs, the project team designed the system according to 3 million daily passenger. Designers integrated the IAAS, PAAS cloud computing, capacity, load balancing and other new technologies, and increased the concurrency from 100 passengers per second to 8000 passengers. Meantime it also has high stability and expansibility. The R&D personnel used the technologies of memory database, message queue, and asynchronous architecture to achieve rapid payment, and only 0.5 seconds is needed to complete a scanning process. In addition, they designed the special modes for emergency and evacuation to deal with all kinds of emergencies that may occur. They designed a QR code of the whole network duplication checking, anti-duplication, anti-counterfeiting scheme to protect the interests of customers. They also designed advanced technology to remove sensitive information to avoid passenger information leakage, and improve the safety level.

On December 19, the project team completed the software upgrade of the network, regional center, ACC system of 11 metro lines in Nanjing, as well as the two-in-and-out barrier gates of 169 stations and more than 600 semi-automatic ticket machines. In order to ensure the smooth opening of mobile payment, the project team carried out the final inspection and system monitoring of the latest software version, and completed all the preparatory work of switching the whole line network, data clearing and function checking.
